Requirements traceability matrix is a table that shows the many to many relationship between requirements and test cases. Each requirement is mapped to one or more test cases. Each test tests one or more requirements. This video explains the Requirements traceability matrix or RTM. The traceability can be written between business requirements and software requirements, software requirements and high level design, high level design and detail design, detail design and code, software requirements and test cases and between test cases and automated test scripts. The common traceability matrix is between requirements and test cases.
