Software test report is used to communicate the status of testing and the system quality. It can be an individual status report for one tester or a team status for all the testers. It can be a daily or weekly report in the middle of testing. Or it can be the final report. A software test status report should contain objective data for the stakeholders and the project team. It can be created by filling up the status report template by hand. Or it can be generated automatically from the test management software. The important data in the software testing status report is the project overview, types of testing, test cycle, test execution status (complete, in progress or pending), feature or component status and bug tracking data (defects logged, defects closed and defects open).
